MV Skansonia Wedding // Jeremy + Sam

Weddings

We are thrilled to showcase Jeremy and Sam’s picturesque seaside MV Skansonia wedding. What sets this venue apart from the rest, is its charm and history. The MV Skansonia is a beautifully restored ferry boat that offers a unique wedding experience.

Nestled on the Northlake side of Lake Union in Seattle, WA, the venue is managed by the award-winning Landmark Event Co. company. When it was time to dress up, Sam slipped into her bold but beautiful wedding gown. Elegant and timeless, this white wedding gown designed by David’s Bridal featured delicate black lace detailing on the bodice and on the hemline of the long trail.

Sam added a modern touch to her bridal look with black glittered sneakers, complementing the black and white theme. She also brought a pop of color with a stunning red rose bouquet crafted by florist Mariah Lind. The groom, Jeremy, kept his style classic with a black suit, black tie, and white shirt.

The black and white theme exented to their wedding details, even the carefully designed The Knot invitations. Ruby Sainsbury from Landmark Event Co arranged the ceremony on the MV Skansonia’s open front deck. The city and the water would provide a stunning backdrop for it.

Jeremy and Sam cut their wedding cake after the toast. Morfey’s Cake nailed the wedding theme with a stunning three-tier ombre cake, resembling the night sky. After their first dance together as husband and wife, the wedding guests let loose and celebrated with the couple on the dance floor. Baby Van Beezly LLC via Maison de V Entertainment set the tone for the evening with the best music while guests ate, drank, and danced all night long.

The Sound Originals crew had a great time documenting Jeremy and Sam’s wedding day. Enjoy their pictures, please!

MV Skansonia History

Built in 1929, the MV Skansonia ferry sailed passengers for two decades between Point Defiance and Vashon Island. The ferry’s name is a tribute to its builders, the Skansie Brothers. After retiring in 1969, the vessel was used as a private residence until the 1980s when it was transformed into a stunning wedding venue.

This historic boat offers an exceptional and memorable wedding experience. Guests can tour the ship to see its unique history and features. The Wedding Wire showcases over 80 reviews from couples who have chosen the MV Skansonia for their special day, with a stellar 4.8-star rating.

MV Skansonia Wedding Parking

When it comes to wedding planning, the last thing you want is for your guests to feel frustrated by poor parking arrangements. In a previous post, we discussed parking for weddings at the MV Skansonia. The boat itself is docked on the north end of Seattle’s Lake Union and has a capacity for 250 – 300 people.

If your guest count is on the higher side, you may need to consider all available options. According to Eventective’s write-up of the MV Skansonia, there is a small parking lot before boarding the dock where the ship is located. Paid parking zones are available throughout Seattle, but please note that street parking is usually limited to two or four hours.

Alternatively, consider offering a shuttle service from your guests’ hotel to the venue. This has become a popular and convenient practice in wedding planning. However, keep in mind that this could add to your expenses, so plan accordingly.

The intimate wedding package for 12 to 32 people costs $235-250 per person and includes event space, 5-hour event access, custom setup, a 3-course plated dinner, and more.

The cost of the wedding at this romantic venue varies depending on the reserved space, with prices ranging from $750 to $4,000 per event. Additionally, they offer a decor enhancement package that can be added to any wedding for a minimum of 8 people at a cost of $35 per person with tax and service charges.

1. Convenience: One of the primary benefits of having a wedding reception at a restaurant is the convenience factor. Restaurants offer all-inclusive packages, handling catering, decor, and staffing, saving you time and energy.
