MV Skansonia Wedding // Megan + Ian

Weddings

We’re very excited to share Megan and Ian’s sea-side MV Skansonia Wedding!

First off, the MV Skansonia venue is unlike many other wedding venues! Specifically, the MV Skansonia is a restored ferry boat. In fact, this vintage ferry is located in Seattle, WA on the Northlake side of Lake Union. Additionally, the MV Skansonia is part of the Landmark Event Co.

Before the ceremony the couple shared an intimate champagne toast to celebrate the excitement of their special day. Standing on the bow of the boat, the champagne splashed over the railing and into the water. Keeping up with the vintage aesthetic of the ship, Megan’s blonde hair was curled. In addition, she wore drop-shaped sparkly earrings that added to her look of old Hollywood glam.

Together, she paired her wedding day look with strappy silver heels and a crisp white blazer. Correspondingly, Ian wore a black suit, black bowtie, and a crisp white undershirt. During the ceremony, Megan and Ian walked down the aisle arm-in-arm. Before all of their loved ones, the couple shared their vows and became newlyweds.

Afterward, the happy couple made their married debut at their wedding reception. Within the inside of the ship the interiors were beautifully decorated with warmly glowing string lights. Beneath them, the hardwood floors shone. While guests mingled they had a special dessert to snack on, ice cream! Continuing with the vintage look of their wedding, the couple had an ice cream cart from Shug’s Ice Cream and Soda Fountain

Lateron, Megan and Ian shared their first dance together. Next, they each danced with family members. Finally, the DJ started playing music that inspired the entire wedding party to move onto the dance floor. As the sun set, the celebrations went into the evening.

Our team at Sound Originals loved being there to capture Megan & Ian’s wedding day. Please enjoy their photos!

MV Skansonia Wedding Cost

Initially, the best way to get pricing for an MV Skansonia wedding is by contacting Landmark Event Co. Through the contact form on their website, they ask couples to provide details like their potential wedding date, estimated guest count, and budget. After confirming the booking of your wedding venue, the next step is to choose the catering menu. Thirdly, they invite couples to choose their drink package for their wedding. In the end, they allow couples to choose any additional add-ons they’d like for their special day. For example, there are a number of DJ & music options to choose from with Landmark Event Co.

Secondly, Here Comes the Guide has a detailed breakdown of costs for a MV Skansonia wedding. As expected, the rental fee varies by the time of year that the wedding takes place. In estimate, the prices can range from $2,500 to $8,500. Within the venue rental, the wedding gets ten hours of exclusive use of the ship. Along with the venue rental, some extras are included, like tables, chairs, and a day-of venue/catering coordinator. Moreover, there are other costs, like the 23% gratuity, that should be accounted for when budgeting for a wedding.

MV Skansonia Parking

As we know, parking in a city for any event can be tricky! Previously, we have covered the topic of parking for weddings at the MV Skansonia. Within their write up of the MV Skansonia, Eventective shared that there is a small parking lot prior to boarding the dock where the ship is located. Throughout the City of Seattle, there are many paid parking zones. Please note that when you park on the street, it is usually limited to two or four hours of parking. Ideally, you would pay at a meter or through a phone app. Luckily, if the wedding is on a Sunday, then street parking is free!

Another option would be a shuttle service from your wedding guests’ hotel to the MV Skansonia. As we have seen in recent times, offering transportation to your guests has become a modern practice in wedding planning. However, this could add to your wedding day expenses, so be sure to budget for it!

MV Skansonia History

Lastly, the MV Skansonia was built in 1929! Historically, this ferry sailed a twenty year ferry route carrying passengers between Point Defiance and Vashon Island. Interestingly, the name of the ship is a play on the name of the builders, the Skansie Brothers. Finally, the ferry had its last day of work in 1969. Next, it was sold in 1971 and used as a private residence. However, by the 1980’s the ferry became a wedding venue. To see the ship for yourself, you can book a tour.

Another great way to explore this venue is through the photo gallery on The Knot. With over fifty user reviews, the MV Skansonia maintains a 4.9 out of five star rating. In reviewing the feedback left by previous couples, this ship is a great wedding venue.
