Jenny and Justin celebrated their wedding on a warm summer day in a garden adjacent to the Hotel de Haro. The happens to be the oldest operating hotel in the state of Washington! Jenny and her bridesmaids got their hair and makeup done in a cottage on the resort properly. After popping some champagne, Jenny headed to the main resort, near the pier and waterfront, for the first look with her handsome groom. Jenny and Justin got married in the resort’s Sunken Garden. The resort describes it as a “flowering oasis” overlooking Puget Sound. After tying the knot in an intimate ceremony, friends and family headed to the Pavilion for dinner and dancing. The San Juan Islands are famous for seafood. Roche Harbor Church

You may have seen wedding photos from Roche Harbor Resort in front of a white church or chapel. That’s the Roche Harbor Church. The church was built in 1892. It’s sometimes hard to believe how old some of the Roche Harbor property is! There is also a stone structure in the woods nearby. According to the Historic Friday Harbor website, this is a mausoleum, a stone memorial with religious and Masonic symbolism prepared by the McMillin family.

Who Owns Roche Harbor Resort?

The history of Roche Harbor Resort is fascinating. It begins more than 200 years ago. In 1787, Captain Lopez de Haro and his crew became the first Europeans to sail among the San Juan Islands, according to the resort’s history website.
