We’re very excited to share Ian and Courtney’s wondrous and magical The Ruins wedding!
The Ruins is an eclectic venue by the Landmark Event Co. located in the Lower Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle. With hand-painted murals, a private library, and fireplaces, The Ruins is moody and sophisticated. Ian and Courtney couldn’t have picked a better location for their wedding! And their wedding planners, Selma Wild and Bre Ruiz, helped them create a day full of elements unique to the couple and their relationship. As guests arrived, they could choose from two very special cocktails named after the couple’s beloved cats, Tali and Scruples.
There were so many bespoke details on Ian and Courtney’s big day. Courtney wore the most bewitching pair of black, bejeweled, spiderweb pumps with her lace dress. Ian wore a luxurious, purple velvet jacket. Another fun element was that their wedding rings were stored inside of a Cryptex. For the walk down the aisle there was live cello music. The two also chose an especially unique accessory to wear, masquerade masks with golden accents. The wedding party wore black and all attendees wore masquerade masks too. Family and friends dressed for the occasion in kilts and fancy dress attire.
The couple shared their vows in front of a matte gold hoop adorned with dark and autumnally colored flowers. As part of their ceremony, Ian and Courtney did a sand pour into an hourglass, creating a special keepsake. When it was time for a champagne toast the drinks were served in the most unique way! You’ll have to see for yourself in the gallery below to believe it!
The reception featured a grand entrance for the newlyweds and a few toasts from loved ones. The seating place cards were hand-painted mini pumpkins. If guests had brought a handwritten card for the couple, then there was a hollowed out pumpkin to place it inside of.
While guests dined, they were dazzled and entertained by a couple of performances. Aerialists dangled above, suspended amongst the crystal chandeliers. Their guests loved the desserts! The had a pink champagne cake with chocolate icing from Morfey’s. Ian and Courtney cut the cake with an elaborate dagger. Also, they offered spooky cookies in the shape of black cats, spider webs, and coffins.
When it was time to dance into the night, the partygoers moved and twirled to the tunes of DJX2050. Ian and Courtney kept the party going with a special ‘bouquet’ toss. Putting their own unique spin on this tradition, these two walked in with a corgi and a cat stuffed animal, and both tossed a plushie to their guests.
Our team at Sound Originals loved capturing the creativity of Ian and Coutney’s wedding. Please enjoy their photos!

The Ruins Seattle Wedding Cost
The best way to determine the cost of a wedding at The Ruins is to contact them directly. Costs can vary depending on the number of guests, and the type and amount of food and beverages served. Planning for a wedding is a really big expense for a couple and there are a lot of moving pieces to consider: wedding day outfits, the rings, the venue, the cake, food, and drinks. And those are just a few! A table setting could be a rental of plates and cutlery, tablecloths, and even the tables and chairs themselves. The good news is that The Ruins includes a lot of items in their fees so that you don’t have to haul in all of your rentables. This reduces the set up and clean up time before and after the ceremony and reception as well.
