We’re thrilled to share Sonja and Jonathan’s stunning Abernethy Center Wedding! 

Starting with the location, the couple selected the Abernethy Center in Oregon City, OR to host their wedding. If you’re planning a wedding, consider Abernethy Center – it’s the ideal wedding venue as it houses everything you need for your big day. The area is entirely wheelchair accessible, features outdoor heating for colder months, and beautiful feature lighting. The Chapel showcases a historic wedding bell from 1887 and fully furnished suites for the wedding party. It also offered beautiful natural backdrops for Sonja and Jonathan’s wedding photographs. 

The day began with the bride and groom getting ready. Sonja transformed into a wondrous bride as she wore her Lillian West gown from Charlotte’s Bridal. The look was complete when Knot & Rouge professionals Courtney and Hailey ensured that Sonja’s hair and make-up complimented her dress and vibrant personality. 

Our amazing Portland wedding photographers from Sound Originals captured all the heartfelt moments of the day. From the first look to couple portraits, walking down the aisle, and vow exchanges, we were there for every special moment. 

The day was planned by mother-of-the-bride, Cheryl Carlson who brought together a team of experts. Lush Floral Design designed the floral arrangements. Invitations were designed on Minted. Sherri from SW Cakes created a wedding cake to perfection and Abernethy Center did the catering in-house. Anthony from A Sound Choice Entertainment set the mood for the evening with great music for everyone to dance the night away. Abigail’s Garden provides an outdoor ceremony and tented reception venue. Your guests are welcomed with a beautiful water feature as they enter the ceremony site. Cafe lighting throughout the reception area and a wooden dance floor make it easy to capture a selfie anywhere at any time.

The Chapel, Veiled Garden, and Ballroom feature an outdoor or indoor ceremony and indoor reception venue. The Chapel is a traditional-styled steeple and has a historic wedding bell from 1887 that takes you back in time. The tall structure from the inside lends to the most dramatic ceremony photographs. For an outdoor ceremony, a gazebo anchors the ceremony, giving it a cozy and quaint feel.
