FAQ

Can I use the images in my portfolio?
Yes! At the end of the year, you’ll receive a license. You can re-edit the images in your own style and use them for your portfolio.
 
Do I need to cull or edit?
Nope! All you need to do is upload the RAW images or unedited video footage.

How does payment work?
After uploading your files, we'll process your payment via direct deposit into your bank account.

How does the assignment process work?
You’ll maintain an online calendar showing your availability. We’ll rely on your calendar to book weddings. Once we’ve booked a wedding for you, you’ll be notified via email about the assignment. 

Once you've marked yourself as "available" for a certain date, it means you are 100% available, and asking us to book a job for you within your city/region.

Can I change my calendar?
Yes, you can change your availability calendar at any time — provided you don’t already have an assigned wedding.

Can I change my mind after getting an assignment?
No. Keep in mind, we’ll only assign weddings on the dates you mark yourself as available. If you mark yourself as unavailable, you won’t receive any assignments. You’ll need to contractually agree to photograph all the weddings you are assigned. If you cancel, or don’t show up, you are responsible financially. We take commitments extremely seriously. If you aren’t sure you want to photograph a wedding on a certain date, you should mark yourself as unavailable for that date.

How far in advance do I need to open my schedule?
Many of our clients book 6 to 12 months in advance. We're looking for team members who are eager to open their availability calendars. Unfortunately, we're not looking for "last-minute" shooters. This is not the right opportunity for someone hoping to fill jobs a couple weeks in advance. Our team opens their availability calendars and commits to weddings months and months in advance. 

What if I decide to take a vacation, or receive an inquiry for my own business?
We take commitments extremely seriously. Once you've marked yourself as available and received an assignment, you are obligated to photograph or film that wedding.

You'll only receive assignments for dates you've marked yourself as "available."

What if I’m late to a wedding?
Short of an emergency, there is no excuse for being late to a wedding. Our clients hire us because we are reliable. Traffic might be awful. There could be a road detour. Your GPS could send you down the wrong road. Our clients expect us to plan ahead. 

What equipment is required?
Lead photographers are required to have 2 full-frame camera bodies. Videographers must have 2 cameras and wireless microphones.

Can I promote my own business name?
No. You represent Sound Originals. You cannot promote your own business for any reason.

Storyteller Training Program - Photographers

We love helping photographers learn and grow to become fantastic storytellers. Our lead wedding photographers are Certified Storytellers. This means they've proven their ability to capture gorgeous images in a style consistent with our storytelling brand. 

We've developed a training program to help you become a Certified Storyteller. You'll watch our video on posing and guidance. You'll photograph up to 3 engagement sessions. After each session, we'll coach you and provide feedback and advice. You'll also shadow our experienced team members and work closely with our director of storytelling.
