Tower Bridge Sacramento, CA Engagement // Katie + Brandon

Engagements

We’re very excited to share Katie and Brandon’s beautiful Tower Bridge Sacramento, CA Engagement shoot with you.

First off, Katie and Brandon chose the iconic Tower Bridge in Sacramento, CA for their engagement photoshoot. Specifically, Sacramento is about two hours Northeast of San Francisco. The Tower Bridge crosses over the Sacramento River. Additionally, this golden lift bridge is a stunning backdrop in an urban setting. Of note, the Tower Bridge is ranked twelfth on a list of over one hundred things to do and spots to visit in Sacramento.

Arriving on a crisp, fall day Katie and Brandon both wore long sleeved sweaters. Correspondingly, they both had on a pair of dark jeans. In detail, Katie wore a pair of taupe wedge-heeled booties. Also, Brandon wore a black sneakers. Another accessory was Brandon’s hat. As you can see, his hat was outlined with their shared home state of California.

Next up, Katie and Brandon took advantage of the many vignettes around the bridge. Together, the two leaned against the concrete wall and shared a kiss. Later, the two shared an embrace beneath a palm tree. Finally, they walked hand in hand on a nearby trail. Eventually, the couple made their way to a fallen log and sat close to each other.

During their engagement photoshoot, Katie and Brandon shared many smiles. Clearly, these two are very happy together. Luckily, the blue sky had sparse clouds during their session. A couple’s 50th anniversary is their “golden” anniversary, which makes this gold bridge a great spot for new couples and seasoned couples alike!

We are so thankful to have been a part of Katie & Brandon’s engagement announcement. Please enjoy their photos!

Tower Bridge Sacramento History

Firstly, the Tower Bridge was historically built in 1934 and opened to traffic in 1935. Moreover, the top of a support tower is carved with the year 1935. In fact, the Tower Bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The architect, Alfred Eichler, used a form of art deco influence in his design.

However, this golden bridge was not always gold! Originally, the bridge was painted aluminum silver. Indeed, the bridge was repainted in 1977 and in 2002. Another big change for the Tower Bridge was the removal of the train tracks 1963. At that time, the bridge shifted to exclusive use for automobiles and pedestrian traffic. For any history aficionados, there is a historical marker at the base of a lamppost.

Tower Bridge Wedding

Interestingly, there don’t seem to be many weddings on the Tower Bridge in Sacramento, CA. But, this doesn’t mean you cannot be wed on or near the Tower Bridge. One example would be to get married on a boat with the Tower Bridge as a backdrop. Ideally, to do something like this, couples would plan an elopement or micro-wedding.

While the Tower Bridge does not host many weddings, it does host an annual event. Each year the Farm-to-Fork festival serves up a memorable dining experience. Specifically, the bridge is closed down for folks to enjoy a locally-sourced dinner on the bridge. This event could be a pretty wild reception dinner, but you’d need luck on your side to get tickets! As you may have guessed, this event brings guests from all over the nation.
