We love photographing engagement session is beautiful places. Rocky Butte Natural Area in Portland does not disappoint! We met with Christine and Zack recently to capture their engagement photos. They chose Rocky Butte for it’s gorgeous views. To the east is the Cascade Mountain Range, with of course, Mount Hood! With the twinkling city lights below, we took photos later in the afternoon to capture the golden light of the setting sun. This is a great time to take engagement photos! While the sun was setting, the happy couple exchanged cuddles and kisses. We can’t wait to photograph their wedding later this year!
Rocky Butte is located in the city of Portland park called Joseph Wood Hill Park. The area has a pretty cool history as well. The park was built in 1935. Rocky Butte is one of Portland’s highest east-side points. That’s why the view are amazing here! It is a photographers dream to take engagement photos here. As a result, the park gets great reviews because of this. The park was acquired in 1988 and includes a historical site, statue, is a vista point and is also a reservable wedding site. On clear days Mt Hood sits right in front of you. You can read more about the potentially active stratovolcano here. Also in the distance to the north you can also see Mount St. Helens. This is the famous volcano that erupted in 1980!
There’s many things to do in the Portland area. Christine and Zack certainly enjoyed their engagement session with us. And I’m sure they visited one of the many local restaurants afterwards for a celebratory drink and meal!
